After years of experiencing both the richness of Japanese traditional craft and the superficiality of most cultural tourism, we saw an opportunity to create something different.
Most cultural travel in Japan offers surface exposure—you visit workshops, watch demonstrations, try techniques once, move on. This has value, but it doesn't create understanding. You leave with photos and vague impressions, not skill or genuine connection.
